"We Swore Forever Friends ... Till the End."
In honor of John and to keep his unique spirit a shining light for those he left behind, The John J. Hildin Memorial Scholarship was founded by family and friends shortly after his passing. John led a very consequential life and made quite an impact – we want that impact to continue.
The mission of this annual Scholarship is to provide John’s wisdom and guidance along with financial support to young STEM students who exhibit the character, passion, caring and integrity that John brought every day.
We want John’s honest leadership, spirit of adventure, moral compass and core family values to be a clear example to these children as they move forward and advance their studies.
Two scholarships will be awarded each June to deserving 8th grade students from St. Leo the Great School in Lincroft, NJ to further their high school education – one female attending Red Bank Catholic High School (where John’s daughters Kelsey and Karley graduated) and one male attending Christian Brothers Academy (where John graduated). These students will be selected based upon how well they represent the characteristics outlined in the mission statement.
Each annual winner will receive a one-time financial award along with a unique "compass inspired" jewelry gift that is meant to represent John's fine example. It is our sincere hope that these annual awards given in John’s name will further encourage these talented students to reach their fullest potential and live a more meaningful life - both personally and professionally.
