About John
Family
Our dear family member, friend and colleague John Hildin passed away suddenly in October of 2018. John left an indelible mark and lasting impression on everyone he touched, both professionally and personally – he will surely be missed every day by all who had the good fortune to know him. First and foremost, John was dedicated and devoted to his beautiful family - wife Kathy and daughters Kelsey and Karley. Everything he did was with them in mind and he provided a strong foundation of home and happiness on a daily basis.
Integrity
John was a very talented electrical engineer who worked on projects at the highest level for private industry and government agencies. He began his career at AT&T Bell Laboratories, participated in numerous start-up technology firms and most-recently served as Director of Network Systems for Curtiss Wright Corporation.
John gave ownership to every mission he was involved with and he was dedicated to "doing the job well" with 100% commitment. He took the job personally, did not look for accolades and was a true team player. He brought the highest level of integrity and pride to work with him every day.
Guidance
This unmatched work ethic applied to John's personal life as well. He cared about people and treated everyone with utmost respect. Family was cherished, friends were dear and colleagues admired - personal relationships were John's greatest accomplishments. In recent years, John proudly served as a Senior Mentor for the School of Engineering at The College of New Jersey. John took great joy in helping the next generation of professionals as best he could - paying it forward every day.
A friendly nature, smiling warmth and adventurous spirit were constant with John. By living his life the way he did - both personally and professionally - John provided a true roadmap for how to treat one another and built a remarkably impactful example for all to follow.
This guidance is the cornerstone of our efforts with this scholarship in his name.
